BE RELIABLE

Meditate on Matthew 21 : 29 - 31

Memorize Isaiah 54 : 10 “For the mountains may be removed and the hills may shake, But My loving kindness will not be removed from you, And My covenant of peace will not be shaken,” Says the LORD who has compassion on you.”

Make it Real

Reflect again on the parable Jesus told in our passage for today. Consider if the two sons were your children, your siblings, your friends, your subordinates in an office, or even your partners in a business. Which one of them would you entrust things to be done, especially those things that are valuable to you? The answer is obvious. We all want to be sure that the person we are asking to do something for us will surely do it. We all could probably relate to the experience of sending some
material to the seamstress or tailor to make an outfit – an outfit you are expecting to wear in three weeks. The seamstress tells you the outfit will be ready in a week. Three days prior, you call and you are told that the material has been cut, but then you have received a long list of reasons and excuses why your outfit may not be ready for the day you originally planned. Would you recommend your
seamstress to someone else? She has not shown that she is reliable.

Our memory verse today establishes the reliability of God towards us. God is our Standard for reliability. Can God also rely on us for anything? Can God rely on you to tell the watchman in your community that Jesus loves him? Can God rely on you to show love to the needy around you? Can Jesus rely on you to visit the sick in your area who attends the same church with you? Can God rely on you to speak to a lost world about His unchanging truth? Start giving answers to this question in your devotion today.
